Digital collage, 2022
“Imagine this world without the sun”, this work begins with this simple prompt. Using food production and consumption as a gateway, this digital collage dissects the unmindful dependence of our current culinary landscape on commercialised production of soy bean. Through researching archival information and news media contents, twelve stories have been put together as a script for the end of soy bean. Visual elements of these stories are assembled to create the collage, along with twelve short poems outlining various scenarios. With the mixed use of popular and historic visual elements, this collage intends to portray a speculative imagination as an intervention on issues that are, in fact, already existing and effecting our current lives.
