This work was made for the group exhibition A Reunion, where fellow alumni of Design Academy Eindhoven showed works relating to their memories of school. The exhibition was presented as part of Vienna Design Week 2026.

One day, the canteen at Design Academy Eindhoven stopped providing metal spoons and forks, stating it was “the consequence of not returning cutlery”. Instead, disposable wooden alternatives were offered. This new cutlery was flat and flimsy, but being disposable made it less frustrating when pieces went missing. I recreated the wooden spoons as ceramic pieces, engraved with everyone’s names, and placed them in a handmade wooden box. At the end of Vienna Design Week, participants will each take their ceramic spoon home, leaving behind a customised wooden case that is only sustained by its memories of the spoons that will never return.
